THE IMAGE THAT MOST PEOPLE HAVE IN THEIR MINDS OF WOMEN FROM THE 1920S IS FLAPPERS WITH SLICKED BOB HAIRSTYLES AND BEADED SLEEVELESS DRESSES. LIKE ANY DECADE FASHION VARIED THROUGHOUT THE ROARING TWENTIES. WOMEN OFTEN WORE HUGE FUR COATS AND LONG FLOWING DRESSES.
MANY WOMEN WERE VENTURING INTO THE WORKFORCE FOR THE FIRST TIME AND AS A RESULT HAD MONEY TO SPEND ON CLOTHES, HATS AND MAKEUP AND EVEN THEIR OWN CARS. THE 1920S WERE A TIME OF BIG CHANGE FOR WOMEN, FASHION WAS BECOMING INCREASINGLY DARING AND MORE COMFORTABLE AND PRACTICAL THAN IN EARLIER DECADES. WOMEN WERE BECOMING INVOLVED IN SPORTS LIKE TENNIS AND GOLF, SPORTS THAT MADE REQUIRED CLOTHES THAT ALLOWED FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT.TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE WOMEN OF THE 1920S CHECK OUT THIS BOOK IN THE KINDLE STORE FLAPPERS IN FASHION OR CHECKOUT THE iBOOKS FLAPPERS IN FASHION
FLAPPER GIRLS KNEW THEIR FASHION AND THEIR PHILOSOPHY. THEY KNEW HOW TO DRESS AND HOW TO DRINK AND THEY SPOKE THEIR MINDS. WOMEN OF THE 1920’S WERE A DIFFERENT BREED FROM THE WOMEN WHO CAME BEFORE THEM. THE ROARING TWENTIES WERE ALSO KNOWN AS THE JAZZ AGE. I AM DEDICATING THIS POST TO THE ORIGINAL FLAPPERS, THE GATSBY GIRLS, THE SHOP GIRLS AND THE MOVIE STARS.
BEFORE THE GREAT GATSBY F.SCOTT FITZGERALD PUBLISHED HIS BOOK FLAPPERS AND PHILOSOPHERS IN 1920. FITZGERALD WAS PLUGGED INTO THE VIBE OF THE 20’S LIKE NO OTHER AUTHOR.
